Defection of Abok Ex Speaker Of  Plateau House of Assembly from APC to PDP Is no Threat to Plateau Ruling Party- Namang

Attai Audu Jos

The All Progressives Congress,APC Plateau State Chapter has declared that the purported decamping of the former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Abok Nuhu Ayuba from the APC to the PDP is no threat to the ruling All Progress Congress on the Plateau .

The Party in a statement issued to Newsmen on Sunday in Jos through its Publicity Secretary Sylvanus Namang, and a copy made available to Oracle Reporters noted that while it is the prerogative of the former Speaker to join any political association of his choice, the APC wishes to put on record that it is aware that Hon. Abok has for long been far from the party that gave him the mandate to contest and win election to the House of Assembly in 2019 which also enabled him to be given the privilege as first among equals to lead the State Legislature.

Namang alleged that Ex Speaker Abok has been having open romance with the PDP minority opposition members in and out of the Assembly and had total disregard for the APC leadership and its structures in the State and as well have disdain for its Members in the legislature..

According to Namang, the former Speaker antagonism to the State Governor, is a clear evidence of his betrayal and deliberate attempt to betray the Mandate of the people given to him under the platform of the APC.

“The APC wishes to remind the public and well-meaning Nigerians that these and other infractions, including the mismanagement of the House finances, were some of the reasons that Members constitutionally applied for his impeachment in October 2021 and subsequent election of Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda as the new Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly.”

Namang further said Abok who was subsequently suspended by the House for alleged subversion and holding an illegal sitting at an event centre in an obscure location in Bukuru, using a fake mace as well as using thugs to forcefully break into the Assembly complex thereby causing damage to the facility, remains suspended till date as the House is yet to lift his suspension.

“Therefore, the narrative circulating in the social media purporting that “Plateau Speaker Defects to PDP” is not only misleading, but mischievous and an attempt to deceive the gullible public by creating a sense of loss to the APC.
Abok has since his impeachment in 2021 ceased to be the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly. ”

.
The Plateau APC spokesman added that former Speaker had since then not been sighted in any activities of the House at its temporary sitting venue.

‘ It is common knowledge that Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda is fully in charge of the State Assembly and has been providing purposeful leadership to the House as it continues to pass laws for the good of the citizens, as well as working with the Executive in ensuring that the mandate of the APC is fully executed in the State.
The so-called defection of Abok to the opposition PDP will not in any way affect the business of the House as it is good riddance and relief to the APC.”

Namang further stressed that the APC has not, and will not miss the former Speaker for defecting to the opposition party where his heart has always been for a long time and with whom he has fought unsuccessfully to derail the APC Government in Plateau State.

“He has finally proved our suspicions right by putting his treasure where his heart is. We wish him well.”

Namang however, said as for the APC seat for the Jos East Constituency which the former Speaker wants to steal to the opposition PDP, they wish to assure the good people of Jos East that the APC will take every legal step necessary to ensure that they are not robbed of their mandate which they gave in good faith and with high expectations, but was sadly abused and misused by personal ambition of Ayuba Abok.

“While we urge our teaming APC members and supporters in Jos East and throughout the State to remain calm as the party will take necessary actions to deal with the situation, we call on them to remain united and beware of the antics of the opposition who are desperate to use every means to break the unity of the biggest party in Africa.” Namang stressed

Senator Hezekiah Ayuba Dimka Declares Interest To Contest Plateau Governorship Race, Says he Is Ready to take higher Responsibility in 2023.

Attai Audu Jos

Senator Hezekiah Ayuba Dimka has formerly declared his interest to Contest Plateau Governorship Race in 2023 under the platform of All Progresive Congress.

Dimka made this declaration of his interest at his country home Electoral ward at Kabir Pada in Kanke Local Government Area of his state.

Dimka told the guests who came to witness his declaration that in 2019, he was given a mandate to represent Plateau Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, adding that he is convinced beyond any doubt that he is now prepared to take on higher tasks in the next general election.

“I am aware that my motivation to take on a higher challenge is borne out of many years of service to my father land in different capacities.”

According to him, those years of service in government and in politics have prepared him well enough to take on new challenges.

” Today, as I stand before you, I am aware that leadership comes with its challenges. In fact, the journey of life itself is an experience worth learning.”

He noted that most of those who have led them in the past have built on what succeeding administrations have continued to engage in to the state’s advantage.

” I stand before you with a heart full with gratitude to them for building Plateau and laying a solid foundation for greater expansion for tomorrow”.

According to him,to build on the foundation that has been laid by past administrations, only the people of Plateau State can give that mandate.

Dimka stressed that in seeking for the mandate for leadership, he has returned to express his interest in governing Plateau State come 2023.

“;Power belongs to the people and I believe strongly that it is when you give me the go ahead, that I can step out to consult other people of the state. I am not an island, my strength is drawn from you.”

Dimka added that he was aware that leadership is tasking and challenging.

“You know as I do that the state has grappled with security challenges in the past two decades. Insecurity has tried the soul of the state and determination of governance”.

” Leveraging on experience as former police chief who served in other challenging situations across the land, I make bold to state my motivation and commitment to cause a different intervention in securing our communities and return peace to our people.”

He added that his experience in the area of security cannot be wished away easily as he believed strongly that having put in 35 years in the same terrain should embolden him to face the situation headlong and be able to build on what has been done for the state by other administrations.

Dimka stressed that he was not oblivious of what governments in the past have done as he is aware that Governor Simon Bako Lalong realizing that peace is necessary for development established the Plateau Peace Building Agency.

“;While we need each other to live, we must endeavor to dialogue and build trust between and amongst the people of the state.”

” We are no strangers that hunger and unemployment have become endemic in the land. Families are finding life difficult to survive, as hunger stares them in the face with no answers to their predicament” .

Dimka stressed that beyond mere statistics, they have enterprising young men and women who are roaming the streets without jobs that needs to be encouraged to have skills that would help them survive the harsh economic terrain rather than hanging around waiting for government jobs that are difficult to come.

” I know that you are worried as I am, that some of our sons and daughters are not gainfully employed. It is possible that, the state can find value for our graduates in what they have read in schools, by getting them to be effectively engaged in acquiring skills.

The issue of skills acquisition has been pursued unrelentlessly by the Plateau State Micro Finance Development Agency (PLASMIDA). I know that it can further be strengthened to achieve this dream and that it is against this background that, God willing, we intend to make education the backbone of the administration, so that it can address this challenge.”

He added that with a determined and purposeful leadership, urban development and health care will be taken seriously, saying these are critical areas that target the citizens of Plateau State.

“Plateau State is blessed with huge tourism and agricultural potentials. These have largely remained untapped. Several states that are not equally blessed as we are wish that half of what we have in these sectors are transferred to them. We cannot allow these potentials waste away; knowing that if we utilize them maximally, we shall be better for it.”

“We shall continue to use industry and other revenue generating avenues to our advantage. It is understandable why some people in industry and private organizations refuse to pay because they may not have seen anything commensurate to their contributions.”

“The economy has to be stimulated to grow without which our reliance on the federal government for allocation and other stimulus packages cannot take us anywhere.

It is in this area, that conscious effors must be taken to revive our industry and push them to a state of being functional and generating revenue to the state for development.”

According to him,in a state where we pride ourselves with huge tourism potentials, they cannot afford not to be clean as You may have observed that we have neglected sanitation. For tourists to find the state attractive, premium must be given to cleanliness in our homes, offices and public places which need to be kept clean.

“Iam aware of myriads of problems needing attention to put the state on the world’s map. Whether we are constructing roads or upgrading our schools, markets and or taking care of our traditional institution; the st1ate needs funds to get them done.’

He added that to get all these executed, we have to lay emphasis on revenue generation. In an era of harsh economic crunch such that we find ourselves, a lot is expected of government and its citizen and that
having been a worker at a point in my life, no matter how hard we try, if we do not adequately take care of the work force, our policies can not be properly implemented.

He added that apart from rejuvenating the work force we have a responsibility to transform them to be effective in the discharge of their duties.he stressed.

‘ I am aware that alot is expected in the leadership of our state. So much has been laid as foundation which we can use to build on. If given the mandate that I seek, you can be sure that failure is not an option.” Dimka stressed.

Attai Audu Jos

Executive Chairman of Langtang South Local government Council of Plateau state Hon Prince Vincent Venmam ,on Wednesday alleged that some members of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Langtang North and South Council of Plateau state have been working behind the scene to make Tarok land ungovernable . .

He again denied assaulting the former chairman of Langtang North Council chairman Joshua Ubandoma physir

A cross section of reports in the social media had alleged that Prince Venmark attacked the former chairman of Langtang Nort Joshua Ubandoma at the event held at Sabon Gida, Langtang south over a sitting arrangement and the altercation led to the disruption of the event.

But Venmark explained the day was a success despite the initial challenge as the situation was handled and funds raised beyond the expected figure.

A statement signed by the Chairman of Langtang South Council Hon Vincent Bulus Venman and made available to newsmen in Jos reads that “With the avalanche of partisan driven fabrications and falsehood of any imaginable recklessness, trending in the social Media ,it has become inevitable that I come up with the verifiable.

The statement reads that ” Since, the perpetrators have taken refuge in the Media, it is important for all to know that the regrettable altercation between me and the PDP mob as led by Hon. Ubandoma Joshua Laven, on the 5th March, 2022, at the 74th “Resettlement Day” celebrations in Sabon Gida, was a sheer premeditated act to disrupt the occasion and portray Taroh people as a divided nation and much more.”

Venman added that ” Thank God, they didn’t succeed, as the event still went ahead and generated the best of donations.Laughter and friendship to last a life time .

However, as a peoples’ leader who has earned his place among men of honour, and as Executive Chairman and Chief Security officer of Langtang South LGA, I make bold to take full responsibility for the avoidable incident.

” We clearly underestimated the desperation of these pathetic persons masquerading as PDP stalwarts. We didn’t envisage that they will want to forcefully turn a Community event into a PDP rally like they did. “.

Prince Venman further alleged that ” No wonder, While their bigger Masquerades, like, Hon. Beni Lar and Rt. Air Marshal. Napoleon Bali, were waiting in their vehicles, Ubandoma, was busy struggling with the protocol officials to take the seat of the Chairman of Langtang North LGC.

“And we told him in unequivocal terms that the “Resettlement Day” event was the wrong venue for him to escalate the Langtang North LGC Chairmanship tussle. ,”

The statement further reads that ” In apparent frustration, he seized the Microphone from the Master of ceremony and started chanting PDP, PDP, and the whole place erupted! “This was the show of shame I merely stepped in to resolve oblivious of their larger plan .

Prince Venman further added that ” I sincerely apologize to our esteemed Guests at the “Resettlement Day”,The Taroh Nation; Taroh Elders Forum,N.I.O and the Joint Traditional Council, My good citizen of Langtang South LGA, Trust Worthy Supporters and our great and dependable Leader of the Rescue Team His Excellency Rt. Hon. Dr. Simon Bako Lalong and my Party the All Progressives Congress APC,Over the ruinous Ubanduma’s led Thuggery.

He added that ” The fact of the event remains that, the “Resettlement Day” event had barely started, when Hon.Ubandoma, Hon Beni Lar,Rtd Air Vice Marshal Napoleon Bali, arrived with the most uncontrollably wild and disruptive PDP army, chanting on top of their lungs; PDP, PDP, PDP! and welding arms and clubs of any known, God forsaken political Mercenaries. This didn’t just terrify our esteemed guests to their heels but paralysed the event for about 2hrs 31mits.

As the troubled dust of the crosswords settles, it is now clearer that the faceoff was just a tiny clog in a big machine. Hon. Ubandoma and his Rumble Ready bosses, are set to stop at nothing to win the 2023 elections, including threats, intimidation and crippling violent crimes, like the one the security couldn’t stop in Sabon Gida. The Langtang North/ South Federal Constituency and Plateau South Senatorial Seat elections are at the centre of it all!

Prince Venman further alleged that one of their threats they gave was that they will make Taroh land ungovernable and have earmarked opposition figures like me Hon. Vincent Bulus and others, to harass and brutalize.

He urged security operatives to rise to the duty of protecting the people and democracy .

Prince Venman further vowed to work with security operatives to ensure lasting peace in Langtang South .

They started throwing stones, sand and bottles… I asked my people to calm down, the event was a success because after they left, we continued.

“We wanted to raise N10.5m, we got almost N28m that day after they left. I will not ask my people to do what is not good, I am a man of peace.” Venman stressed.
