Governorship Election: We Were Recruited To Mount Negative Propaganda Against APC — Group

Attai Audu Jos

A group under the eagis of Repentant members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) propaganda machinery has confess their sins and avail the people of Plateau State of certain untoward conduct and sponsored evil machinations perpetrated by them just to make sure that the APC Governorship Candidate Dr Nentawe Yilwatda did not win last Saturday Governorship election in the state.

The leader of the group Habila Joesph made the disclosure while address newsmen at Azi Nyako youth centre in Jos .

According to him, they felt it is expedient and necessary to come out and talk in order to purge and relieve their conscience of the moral burden they have placed upon themselves through the perpetuation of evil propaganda against Nentawe Yilwatda the candidate of the All Progressive Congress which skewed the minds of the people of the state against him.

Habila explained that as a matter of fact and without any fear of indictment, reprimand or arrest by the security agencies, they want to bring to public knowledge that they became willing tools and agents of blackmail and character assassinations in the hands of the PDP to bring down the most qualified and formidable Candidate, Nentawe Yilwatda of the APC.

“Regrettably and shamefully too, we were given inducements and the necessary backing to publish all forms of falsehood especially in the social media portraying Nentawe as an agent of the Hausa-Fulani.”

He pointed out that it would also be mind boggling and surprising to some to ask why coming at this time to make such startling revelations when the election is all over adding that the elections might have been over but the mental torture they were going through seem to have just began looking at the number of innocent Christians who might have been made to belief the false propaganda which they made them believe.

“We chose to come out now because of the serious spiritual and psychological torture we are going through. Promptings hence the need to come out and publicly confess our misdemeanor with a view to absorbing our conscience.

Habila further said “Consequently I and my friends in this obnoxious and wicked assignment, feel there is no reason for jubilations having known fully what transpired before and during the election.

” Worst of all is the kind of massive rigging and result manipulations that characterised the outcome of the election in some parts of the state particularly in Mangu and Jos- South local government areas.”

He also added that they want to make it abundantly clear that should the need arises, they will be willing to mention names of sponsors of this distardly conduct and actions saying they will also tell the world all the mouth watering promises made to them in the event PDP wins the governorship election.

“While we are not sure of the extend that our indecent manipulation of public opinion might have influenced the voting pattern of the unsuspecting voters, we want to profoundly ask for forgiveness from Dr Nentawe, and the entire people of Plateau State.”

Taraba Governorship Polls : Andeta’rang, PDP supporters, Suspects foul play.

* wants INEC to declare winner of the election.

Janet Nyajon Audu

Andeta’rang Iramae, the State Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, has lamented over the delay in declaring Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas of the PDP as winner of the governorship election in Taraba state by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking with our Correspondent in Jalingo, Andeta’rang and other PDP supporters who besieged the office on Monday are agitating that
INEC State Collation/Returning Officer and Resident Electoral Commission (REC) have no reason to delay the announcement of Col. Agbu Kefas as the winner of the governorship election having won with landslid scoring the total votes of 255,317.

According to Andeta’rang, any attempt to temper with the result will be resisted ” tempering with results at this stage is dangerous, the outcomes have been formally collated and received at the INEC Headquarters in Taraba.

He said “We are here to defend our votes so INEC should not delay to declare result because PDP candidate, Col. Agbu Kefas won the election.

The PDP supporters added that the INEC State Returning Officer should announce the result as collated and any party not satisfied with it should go to the Election Petition Tribunal and challenge the result as the INEC National Chairman, Yakubu Mahmood did during the collation of Presidential Election on February 25.

The PDP supporters accused the Resident Commissioner REC Alh. Umar Muktar Gajiram and the INEC State Collation/Returning Officer Prof. Muhammed Ahmad Abdullaziz for taking side with Prof. Sani Yahaha of (NNPP) of interference in the final announcement of the Taraba State governorship result won by Col. Agbu Kefas of the PDP, warning that any attempt to disrupt the announcement of the result may lead to anarchy.

Another PDP supporters, Hon. Eric UJ Yohana insisted that Agbu Kefas won the election in Taraba with wide margins defeating the NNPP with 53, 233 leaving APC trailing behind with a margin of 111,851

He said “PDP lost election to NNPP and APC in some parts of the local governments and we did not protest. Even in places like Ibi, Ussa, Gassol, we did not raise eyebrows and we are not bothered because for sure we won the governorship election and any attempt to rigg will be suicidal.

“So why is INEC delaying over announcing our victory? We are not going anywhere, we will stay here till PDP is declared winner, as their name implies, we expect INEC to have their Independent mind and be neutral in the excersise but reverse is the case in Taraba.

PLATEAU: THE GUBER RACE IS BETWEEN MUTFWANG AND OTHERS

BY CHRIS GYANG

At last, the battle line is drawn. Sheik Sani Yahaya Jingir has made things easier for Plateau voters in Saturday’s gubernatorial and state assembly elections.

Sheik Jingir, the extremist Muslim cleric, has finally revealed publicly that he and his co-religionists have shaped most of Governor Lalong’s contentious and failed policies in the last eight years.

And, mark this, Jingir and his ilk are determined to continue this obnoxious trend with Dr. Nentawe, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as he disclosed that he and his followers would vote for him because Lalong has instructed them to do so.

Analysts fear that this would further tighten their stranglehold on Plateau State, most especially now that the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket has sailed through, even though it is being robustly challenged in the courts of law.

But Saturday’s race will be determined by the sum total of the antecedents of individual candidates in the period preceding these elections. Not only their current pretentions and proclivities.

Voters must ask and determine where the candidates were and what they had done in the last eight years when citizens were being subjected to the maladministration of the Lalong government.

On that score, do we need to be told who stands out and has an excellent chance of being elected governor on Saturday? Certainly, some candidates’ pasts are bound to catch up with them that day.

The two candidates have played key and sensitive roles in the Lalong administration. Yet they are desperately trying to clean their mouths, distance themselves from his failures and put up a façade of being the darlings of the suffering masses.

But, thank heavens, the voters, forced by the sheer distress and dislocations of the last eight years, are now wiser and more discerning that they can clearly distinguish their real enemies from true friends. That was amply demonstrated during the February 25 polls.

And as the political pundits still maintain, those who are still planning to hide under the popularity of Peter Obi to win the governorship and house of assembly votes without meriting them will once more go back licking their wounds.

Those others, like Nentawe, who have gone outside the state to enlist the support of the same people who pushed Lalong into making life a living hell for citizens should also be ready for a rude shock.

The people are determined to chart a fresh course, away from the stagnation and bloodshed of the past, by rejecting their subjugation by the core north and the forcible annexation of their ancestral lands and patrimony.

We must also interrogate and ask Dr. Dakum, the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, LP, where he was from 1999 to 2022 when his dear friend, Lalong, prevaricated and sometimes even looked the other way when Plateau people were made victims of endless attacks and their lands forcibly occupied.

Where was Dakum at the time? But he himself has owned up that he was right beside Lalong – as one of his most trusted allies – throughout those horrific years on the Plateau. He was a worthy and loyal member of the APC.

So, he could not speak out or, more precisely, he simply tagged along because he had the ambition of becoming governor in 2023. He was afraid of incurring the wrath and opprobrium of the imperious Governor Lalong and the awesome APC by standing with the dispossessed people of the state.

Now that he has failed to achieve that ambition in the APC, due to the very familiar antics of his great friend, Mr. Lalong, he has suddenly transformed into a fighter for the masses through opposing his good buddy.

Is Dakum less culpable than Nentawe?

Absolutely not. No.

Unvanquished Plateau people now know their enemies who are today seeking to reinvent themselves and harshly insinuate themselves into their collective imagination as messiahs chiefly to grab political power.

The APC is placing undue premium on what it considers the over-concentration of the campaigns on religious and ethnic issues. The truth is that, since Governor Lalong took power in 2015, he has put religious and tribal matters at the centre of his warped agenda, which has brought blood, suffering and mayhem to this land.

When Lalong said at the beginning of his administration that peace had returned to the state (which was far from the truth, anyway), because he had appointed a Fulani man as commissioner, was he not fanning the embers of tribal and religious divisions?

When he announced that the Hausa and Fulani Muslims in Jos North were solely responsible for his 2015 victory at the polls, was he not stoking religious and ethnic hatred?

When he declared that the magnificent Government House constructed by his predecessor, Da Jonah Jang, was built on a cattle route, was he not courting religious and ethnic disharmony?

You can go on and on.

Therefore, for the APC to accuse the PDP of stoking ethnic and religious divisions is simply diversionary, aimed at shifting blame from where it should be squarely placed.

Doubtless, majority of Plateau people are talking about and have placed religion and tribe at the centre of the present elections because these have been the major weapons used to decimate them, through the Lalong administration, in the last eight years.

And this would very likely continue in the Nentawa dispensation.

But citizens are rising up to ensure that they are not deceived into adopting the religious complacency of the past which brought people like Governor Lolang into power.

Merchants of egregious tribal and religious politics, such as Sheik Jingir, would not be allowed to continue capitalizing on citizens’ indifference to their antics to impose their stooge.

After enduring the horrendous violation of our state in the last eight years, Plateau people are still expected to cower in silence and be submissive when the vice-president-elect surreptitiously enters the state to consult a Muslim cleric who has made no pretentions about pursuing an anti-Christian and anti-Plateau agenda in a predominantly Christian state!

Whenever it serves their primordial interests, they play the ethnic/religious card enthusiastically. But when it stands to benefit the majority of the population, it is frowned upon, openly castigated as potentially dangerous and capable of igniting religious/ethnic conflagration.

Given the above scenario, both Nentawe and Dr. Dakum are birds of the same feather. They are soiled by their putrid distinction of either playing a key part in the Lalong administration or being sponsored by the disgraced governor.

Therefore, Saturday’s gubernatorial election is clearly a two-horse race.

It is between the unblemished, patriotic and courageous Barrister Caleb Mutfwang of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and others: Nentawe, Dakum, etc.

North Central APC Forum urges Tinubu to pick Lalong as SGF

Ogwunenwa Audu Jos.

Leaders and members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) under the aegis of the North Central APC Forum have called the President-elect, Bola Tinubu to pick Director General of his presidential campaign, governor Simon Lalong as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

Speaking on behalf of the forum in Jos the Plateau State capital, the Chairman, Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, said since Governor Lalong, who is also the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, has done a lot for the APC, the emergence of Tinubu in the presidential election, the Northern region and the nation at large.

He said due to Lalong’s active support for the president-elect, Tinubu, many people in the North Central region and his hone state of Plateau have been casting aspersions on him and labeling him with all manners of names, but that Lalong stood his ground owning to his strong faith in the ability of the Tinubu/shettima ticket whom he has always said they will perform creditably well once elected.

Hence, he said, Lalong deserves a the position of SGF in order to strengthen the Tinubu administration which he so much believed in and worked tirelessly for his victory.

Besides, he said, Lalong has demonstrated that peace and unity, which is the bedrock of development, is achievable, as he has been able to restore peace in Plateau State by taking the state out of the dark days of ethno-religious violence.

Zazzaga said North Central APC Forum has initially canvassed for the emergence of the next President from the North Central zone and they routed for Lalong but it didn’t work out, and then later canvassed for him to selected as the running mate to Tinubu, but yet it never worked out.

Despite all that, he said, Lalong did not despair or got annoyed, but kept supporting the party to succeed, and also continue doing so until he was appointed as thebDirector General of the APC presidential campaign council.

He said a loyal party man like Lalong who has been tested and trusted deserves to serve in a strategic capacity like the position of the SGF so that upon the swearing in of Boka Tinubu and the taking off of the administration, the government begin to function maximally without delay as there is much work to be done.

Zazzaga urged the President elect to be focused in his decision-making, and not to allow sycophants and those who did not work for his victory come around him to distract him, saying he is assured that Tinubu will do well following his track record as then Lagos State Governor and his political sargarcity tactics over the years.

He called on all APC supporters to come out en mass across the country and vote all APC governorship and house of assembly candidates across the country this saturday, as the party still remains the party to beat and progressive in its policies.

He urged the youths to be law abiding during and after the election and ensure that they conduct themselves in a peaceful way so that the election will be violence-free and credible.

Tinubu/Shetima: Signed, sealed and delivered

By Yakubu Dati

The Director General of the Tinubu/Shettima APC Campaign Council, Gov Simon Lalong has against all odds, successfully delivered Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sen Kashim Shetima, respectively as President-elect and Vice President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The DG who led a 10,000 member strong workforce comprising of 70 vibrant Directorates was efficiently supported by a team of notable personalities like Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Hadiza Bala Usman as Deputy Directors coordinated by the workaholic James Abiodun Faleke and Christopher Tarka to secure the people’s mandate.

While the National Chairman of APC, Dr. Abdullahi Adamu and the National Working Committee of the party, also worked in unison with the campaign council to deliver the ticket.

The undoubtedly free and fair elections however came with bits of surprises, where the key drivers of the campaign experienced minor setbacks in their strongholds of Lagos, Nassarawa, Kano, Kebbi, Katsina and Plateau States.

Notwithstanding, the team gave the opposition parties a bloody nose in the final tally resulting in the landslide victory for the APC.

The difference in campaign strategy was that while the opposition elements exploited the fragile sentiments of ethnic and religious fault lines to hoodwink some unsuspecting members of the public, the APC concentrated on issues that unite the country.

Fortunately, a greater majority of voters saw through the divisive agenda of the opposition and voted rather for what is in the best interest of the country: that power shifts from the North to the Southern part of Nigeria to keep the country one.

It was Gov Lalong as Chairman of Northern States Governor’s Forum, who led his colleagues to insist that power must shift to the South for justice, fairness and national integration.

With the emergence of the duo of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Sen Kashim Shetima as flagbearers of the APC however, the opposition saw what they thought was a loophole to exploit primordial sentiments but the APC quickly blocked that avenue by strategically appointing Gov Lalong as DG of its presidential campaign, a move which effectively doused the mischief of the opposition as it balanced the configuration in the top hierarchy of the campaign and cured the perceived religious imbalance of the APC ticket.

Sensing imminent defeat on account of that, the opposition continued with divisive campaigns meant to confuse the public from the germane issue of power shift from North to South, but again, Nigerians saw through their deception and rejected them for a candidacy that enthrones national integration.

With this, the familiar antics of the opposition parties to plunge the largest country in Africa into crisis by resorting to self help failed woefully while the imperative of peace and unity prevailed as championed by the ruling party held sway.

It was a beautiful sight thereafter as Gov Lalong, the Director General of the campaign council led the President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Vice President-elect, Sen Kassim Shetima, to receive their Certificates of Return from the electoral umpire, INEC, and later to Daura to present same to the Chairman of the APC Campaign Council and President of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari.

While the DG like other APC leaders of the winning party have accepted the temporary losses in their respective states as part of the hiccups of the game and have moved on, the opposition elements especially in Plateau, the homestead of Gov Lalong are busy gloating over this temporary setback, not minding the capacity of Gov Lalong to recover from such.

Close followers of history will acknowledge that Gov Lalong has in the course of his political journey experienced such setbacks but they have never kept him down as he typifies the aphorism ‘a good man cannot be kept down.’

That was how he survived an attempt to illegally remove him as Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly when he refused to impeach the then Gov Joshua Dariye and got detained in tow. He survived another attempt to recall him from the House of Assembly and instead defied the odds to bounce back and become a 2-time governor of Plateau state, Chairman of Northern Governors Forum and DG of his party’s Presidential campaign that has today, delivered the President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In spite of the fact that the former Governor of Plateau state he labored to protect in office is currently leading the onslaught against him, Gov Lalong is set to deliver Plateau in the next round of elections to the APC.

The Governor’s sterling qualities and peaceful disposition is already working in his favour, as he projects the state to national preeminence in the next dispensation for the obvious benefits the state is bound to derive by being on the same page with the party at the center.

As the nation prepares for the governorship and House of Assembly elections on March 11, it has become imperative to advise that for Plateau State to remain in the mainstream of national politics, it is important the state sustains its alliance and cordial relationship with the Federal Government which was started by Gov Lalong, by strategically identifying with the ruling party at the national level.

Such alliance will accelerate the needed development and serve the interest of the people of the state, who are in dire need of infrastructural and other socio-economic interventions, as the state can no longer afford the luxury of needless opposition.

For further progress, let’s vote to maintain Plateau as an APC state due to the inherent benefits derivable from being in harmony with the center.

Dati is the Chief of Staff to the DG of the Tinubu/Shettima APC Presidential Campaign Council.

Prophet Isa El-Buba Calls for Cancellation Of Saturday Presidential Polls over Irregularities.

Attai Audu Jos

Coalition for Better and Brighter Nigeria(CBBN) has called for the cancellation of last Saturday Presidential election as it did not comply with 2022 Electoral Act as amended in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to him, his group might be compelled to take their protest against the fraud that took place last Saturday to the INEC offices across the country to express their disappointment with poor conduct of the Polls by the National Electoral body (INEC) .

El-Buba noted that before the Saturday Polls was held, INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu publicly assured the Nigeria public and the International community that INEC had made adquate preparation for free and fair general election across the country but regretted the outcome of the polls that was fraught with irregularities..

El-Buba noted the last Saturday Presidential Polls exercise has left millions of Nigerians disappointed and disillusioned because of the unprofessional conduct of state and non-state actors that participated in the process.

He added that the Electoral Act was amended in 2022 for the electronic transmission of results after they are declared at the polling units and that Nigerians participated in this process with the belief that the use of technology and adherence to the agreed electronic transmission of results to INEC servers at polling units would ensure free, fair, and transparent election, but regretted that the opposite happened.

He alleged that INEC servers were shut down as Presidential elections could not be uploaded onto the INEC server. The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) did not work as planned.

According to him, the failure has undoubtedly given room for manipulating the presidential results being announced by the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu at the Collation Centre in Abuja.

“These manipulations were carried out under the watchful eyes and connivance of security officers at the various polling units and INEC offices”.

“The decision of INEC to go ahead to announce these doctored results based on manufactured voting has defeated the efforts made by Nigerians to see that the Electoral Act was amended to allow for electronic transmission of results.

Global President of Group Prophet Isah El-Buba at a Press conference At EBOMI Headquarters demanded for fresh conduct of Presidential Polls in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act as amended.

He added that is disheartening that 24 hours after the elections held across the country that INEC is still yet to upload the authentic results of the Presidential poll on its server. The excuse that the server is down is not tenable.
