This Reverend gentleman because of the oil of grace in his life further proceeded to the Theological College of Northern Nigeria in 1988;an institution that is affiliated to the Prestigious University of Jos where he meritoriously obtained his Diploma Certificate in Theology.

Rev Amos Kumai Yohanna is a man with special predilection for education and knowledge;because of this desire he travelled outside the Nigeria shores to faraway Tanzania, East Africa in pursuit of Golden Fleece because he knew his future would be brighter after then.

To this effect, this man of humanity was admitted into the Makaumia University College, Tanzania in 1994 and by 1997 he bagged his Bachelor of DivinityDegree with honors.A man, who sees education as one of the greatest gifts a man should jealously and tenaciously pursue, felt the need to further continue in his academic desire thus enrolled for his Master’s Degree in Theology in 2000, at the Theological College of Northern Nigeria, Jos and graduated in 2002 with specialization in Pastoral Theology.

This man of vision and determination always cash in on every opportunity to add value to his personality, hence in 2009, Rev. Yohanna also obtained a professional Diploma Certificate in Education from the Ahmadu Bello University’s Institute of Education.

After all his educational pursuit, coupled with his academic attainment, Rev Yohanna was then ready for brasstasks to apply his knowledge to the growth of the Church of God. This is to say that the time for this quintessential leader and thoroughbred preacher to practically concretize his learning into action became obvious.

Consequently and essentially, Rev Amos Kumai Yohanna became the Pastor of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, Vimtim, Adamawa State from 1985 to 1987. He was also a lecturer at Kulp Bible College, Mubi, Adamawa State from 1991 to 1994 as well as Pastor of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria,Vonuklang, Yola Adamawa State from 1998 to 2000.

Interestingly, Rev Yohana found himself navigating in the waters of bureaucracy and governance from 2002 to 2021. It was indeed a sharp departure from church administration to State and Federal government Administration.

Indeed, Rev Amos Yohanna had served his state and Nigeria at different sensitive capacities.

He was the Executive Secretary of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Adamawa State from 2002 to 2007. At the end of his tenure at the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, he was appointed the Chaplain, Adamawa State Government House by the Executive Governor of Adamawa State in 2007 and he served in that capacity up till 2010.

Divinely, the year he step down as the Chaplain, he was appointed the Zonal Coordinator North East by the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission NCPC and he served functionally and effectively in that capacity up till 2013 when he was elevated and appointed the Head of Administration of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, NCPC headquarters, Abuja where he served with dignity and humility up till 2016.

He was able to change the landscape and administrative architecture of the Commission with his coming on board as the Head of Administration in 2013. The Commission is still leveraging on the solid foundation he laid in the Administration Department as well as the Operations department up till date.

As Head of Administration of NCPC, Rev. Yohannaleft indelible marks in the sands of time which no Head of Administration after him has been able to beat.

He had so much influence and so much power which enabled him to reposition and transform the system effectively and efficiently. It is on record that Rev Yohanna remains the most influential Head of Administration that NCPC has ever produced so far.

As Head of Administration, Rev. Yohanna, a distinguished Reverend, headed the first ever situation Room of the Commission during Pilgrimage operation alongside with top officials of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA and some Select Senior Staff of the Commission.

It is Instructive to emphasise that the only Reverend in Admin then headed the Situation Room at a time when the Commission was airlifting 18,000 pilgrims to the Holy land of Israel, Greece and Rome. This well respected Minister of the Gospel is a stickler to details, a workaholic, a man who believes tenaciously that punctuality is the soul of any venture. He resumes work as early as possible and closes late all through his service year.

Rev. Yohanna is a proud son of Adamawa State who served as the pioneer Chaplain of the Government House, Yola and the only Chaplain till date who handled over successfully to his successor with pomp and pageantry without any ill feeling and bad blood.

Rev. Yohanna is a goal getter, selfless and sacrificial leader. While serving as the Head of Administration, it is on record that he was able to migrate the Commission from the traditional payment system to the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System, IPPIS. He was able to just within three months in office accomplish this feat thereby putting paid to the suffocating enigma that had lingered for years.

As Head of Administration, he was able to swiftly conduct the first ever promotion examination of staff seamlessly as well as the first confirmation examination ever conducted by the Commission.

This Special breed of a leader with his indefatigable team of course with the approval of the Executive Secretary physically structured and reorganized the departments and units of the Commission in such a way that every department is situated contiguously and appropriately in line with their core mandate.

He also produced the door labels of all the offices and was instrumental to the procurement of major furniture in the Commission while serving as the Head of Administration.

This man of many parts can sacrifice his comfort for common good and corporate ideals. Little wonder that while pursing the migration to IPPIS he had at different times boarded the local KekeNAPEP in order to meet deadlines at the office of the Accountant General of the Federation OAGF.

In the same vein, in 2019 he personally paid N80, 000 to effect and reconstruct the main entrance gate of the Commission which had a deep pit in between to avoid casualties and save the image of the Commission.

In 2016, when there was a change of leadership in NCPC, he was reappointed and transferred to Yola as the Zonal Coordinator of the North East Zone. By an act of God, the same Chief Executive who transferred him to Yola recalled him back the following year and appointed him the Director of Operations of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission in 2017, a position he held sway till his glorious retirement from the services of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission on 4th June, 2021.

Rev Yohanna will also be remembered in NCPC as the most effective, dynamic, purposeful and indefatigable Director of Operations the Commission ever produced. He runs Pilgrimage Operations seamlessly with confidence and trust. He is indeed a good team player.

While as the Director of Operations, this quintessential leader spent his own hard earn N60, 000 to purchase a hard disc to store all relevant operational pilgrimage information. What else can we say of this rare gem, an embodiment of humility and candour. Indeed, he is a gift to humanity and his generation.

This leader of Exemplary leadership is contagiously sociable, humane and peace loving.

Rev. Yohanna is indeed a fulfilled man by all standards, by all measurements by all intents and purposes.

This man of grace, is not a character that would bask in the euphoria of any high profile position he finds himself because of his background, philosophy of life and spartanism. He has seen it all. He is truly an epitome of humility and hard work.

Truly, and without sounding immodest, Reverend Yohanna is highly favored specie; a dependable ally which explains why every Chief Executive he serves holds him in high esteem. He is a jewel of inestimable value.

This outspoken and eloquent preacher had garnered sundry training experiences and expositions through capacity building and training programmes.

Rev. Amos Kumai Yohanna, is creative and innovative, enterprising, intelligent and very consistent.

In 2014, he attended a training programme on Freedom of Information Act, organized by the Federal Ministry of Justice,Abuja. He equally attended a programme on Transforming and Sustaining the Economy through effective Asset Management Culture UK Trade and Investment/Codub, Lagos in 2015.

In 2012 Rev Yohanna attended training on LogisticsManagement with BRATIM in Abuja,Project Management Training with Boardman partners Limited, Abuja in 2013 as well as the National Productivity Centre, Abuja in 2014 on Enhancing Organizational Performance.

This ebullient and effervescent preacher and administrator par excellence was honored with the distinguished award of Lifetime of Selfless Contribution to the Development of Adamawa State by the Adamawa State Government House, Chapel.

On his Successful retirement on 4th June, 2021 as the Director of Operations of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, he ventured into the murky waters of politics.

This Mubi born and ordained Reverend, moved into action by first and foremost registering as a card carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in his mubi ward, of Adamawa North Senatorial District.

He eventually took the ticket to contest for Adamawa North Senatorial District under the PDP and scaled through the Primaries with overwhelming margin.

However, the National Assembly election of 25th February, 2023 took place and the Senator-elect was very optimistic that he would coast home with victory, but the APC candidate was declared the winner even at that , he remained resolute and undaunted by following the legal process to reclaim his mandate.

Today it is now history that Rev. Amos Kumai Yohanna is the Senator-Elect of Adamawa North Senatorial District following the landmark judgment of the Appeal Court Tribunal of Monday , 16th October, 2023 which sacked Senator Ishaku Abbo of the APC and withdrew his certificate of Return which will be presented to Rev. Amos Yohanna, the Senator- Elect who is the validly elected Senator of the Federal Republic, representing Adamawa North Senatorial District

Indeed this is a new dawn for the People of Adamawa North Senatorial District as they would be sure of quality representation in the Hallowed chambers henceforth.

To God be the glory .

APC Forum threatens legal action against Wike if he involves in PDP crisis

Attai Audu Jos

The All Progressive Congress (APC) under the auspices of the North Central APC Forum has threatened to take legal action against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, should he involve himself in the current crisis of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The forum said it understands that the PDP has been doing all they could to involve Wike in resolving their internal leadership crisis, particularly the one which followed the fall out of their defeat in the last presidential election.

Speaking yesterday in Jos the Plateau State capital after their last quarter of the year meeting, Chairman of the forum, Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, said as an appointive office holder of the APC, Wike should not be allowed to get too involved in PDP issues, talk more of resolving their crisis.

Zazzaga said if Wike is allowed to get involved in such, as well as fratenize unchecked with members of the PDP, it will not be in the interest of the APC, and that they will not accept, and will be forced to take legal action against him if it comes to that.

“We are warning Wike against getting himself involved in the PDP crisis, talk more of making any moves to resolve it since the party is still seeing him as their member. But we in the APC are not comfortable with Wike’s romance with the PDP because we know it won’t always be in the interest of the APC which he is holding its appointive position.

“So, Wike’s loyalty should be seen and felt by the APC, as well as his friendship, rather than with the opposition PDP. We will continue expressing our concern over Wike’s romance with the PDP because many of their leaders are still not showing their support to the APC administration and the leadership of President Bola Tinubu after his victory at the February Presidential polls,” he said.

According him, the recent trending video of Wike at home with the former Senate President Bukola Saraki who is of the PDP, has been stirring some worry in APC quarters, and that duch visits and other relationships the PDP are intensifying with Wike are all ploy to be getting him closer to the PDP than the APC.

He said since the PDP is yet to fully accept and join hands with President Tinubu in moving the nation forward, but are rather challenging his policies and are still challenging his election victory at the court, is anevidence that they are yet to accept his presidency.

Zazzaga therefore said, Wike’s romance with the PDP should be a concern to them and they reject it in its entirety, particularly that Wike is a rare appointee brought in from the PDP to become a cabinet member in the APC government.

He said they have sent an earlier caution to Wike and this is the second time, and that if there is no change, they will be forced to mobilize protest against him.

Meanwhile Zazzaga called on all party supporters to support the party in the forthcoming November 11 governorship election in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi state.

He called on the APC members to make efforts in their usual fighting and never giving up spirit and show the other political parties in the elections that they can always do it both at the federal and state levels.

He said by do doing the party will prove to the likes of Senator Dino Melaye, the Kogi PDP candidate, that the APC remains the party to beat, and his rhetoric cannot give him victory against the APC.

Okwuta Audu Jos

Former National secretary of Alliance for Democracy (AD) Chief Sylvanus D. Lot has described President Ahmed Bola Tinubu as astitute Politician, true Democrat and a Nigerian whose Political anticident speaks for him across the country.

Chief Lot who was a former secretary to Plateau state government and a chieftain of All Progressive Congress in Plateau state in an exclusive interview with Daily Independent in Jos at the weekend, said when Tinubu indicated interest to contest the 2023 Presidential election and his party primaries APC, he knew Tinubu was going to win APC Primaries and go ahead to win the 2023 Presidential election.

According to him,for about 15 years, Tinubu was criss crossing across the states of the federation making friends, building bridges and taking Chieftaincy tittles in difficult areas, preparing ground for declaring his intention to run for Presidential election in 2023, stressing that when the right time came, Tinubu stormed the political scene and nobody could stop his moving train. Lot stressed.

He added that if Tinubu could survive Obasanjo when Tinubu was Lagos governor, no doubt he has become one politician in Nigerian that knows his onion and what it takes to win elections.

Chief Lot said while he was the national Chief scribe of Alliance for Democracy (AD) he worked at close range with Tinubu as Governor of Lagos state and believe in the capacity of Tinubu to provide quality leadership for the people of Nigeria.

He added that going by the way 2023 presidential election was conducted and results announced by INEC the electoral body, he knew Tinubu won the election beating both Atiku and Obi at the polls.

Chief Lot argued that both the presidential and national Assembly elections were conducted same day and the ruling party APC won majority seats at the Senate and House of Representatives.

He said it would not be possible for President Tinubu to have lost the Presidential election because the same voters who voted the APC national Assembly members might have voted him too into power.

According to Chief Lot, even in the US, manual counting of votes is allowed if the technology used for the elections fails.

He commended the Justices that handled the Presidential election petition tribunal for giving credible judgement in favor of President Tinubu, stressing that the current moves by both Atiku and Obi at the Supreme court will not change anything.

POBA,ANAN/ Plateau Students Union Leaders Paid Courtesy Calls On Plateau Commissioner Usman.

Attai Audu, Jos

The Pankshin Old Boys Association (POBA) has called on Plateau state government to intervene on the state of its Alma-mater which the leadership of POBA said has become as a sorry sight.

The Association leadership made this call during a courtesy call on the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Ephraim Usman at the weekend in Jos.

Mr Reuben Mallah, National Treasurer of the Association and leader of the delegation stressed the need for government’s intervention on the School which he said once catered for the Technical development of the entire Northern region.

He added that the school was founded to build technical skills and craftsmanship in its students but that is no longer the case as most of the equipments are non functional due to damage.

“Government College Pankshin and Government Technical College Bukuru were the two technical schools in the whole of the North that all the northern states were sending their children to come and acquire skills.
“But today, the school is in a very sorry state, I remember the day set 87 went to visit the school, we were all in tears because when we saw the metal workshop, and the wood workshop it is almost non existent.
“The School used to be known as Craft School, we used to have a very well equipped metal workshop, wood workshop and other technical equipments, we never carried anything outside the school for repairs, we were equipped to fix them.
“So we are sincerely calling on government, both the State and the Federal government to come to our aid to help us revamp and restore the lost glory of Government College Pankshin” he said.

Mr Ephraim Sule, member of the 1995 set of the School while responding, noted with disdain that each time he had to drive past the school, he does so with pain in his heart due to the current situation of the school.

He noted that though the current administration had expressed willingness to continue on some abandoned legacy projects of the past administration, it would not include projects that are white elephant projects.

He urged the Association to unite in its effort to get tangible solutions and revive the school to it’s old glory.

“His Excellency has promised to finish certain abandoned projects, though with a caveat, he said white elephant projects, I dont know if this falls within the category he is describing.

“That road is on the way to my village and each time I drive past it, I feel pain in my heart because of the state of the abandoned project, I will be glad if that project is completed, because each time I look at the school instead of me being happy, I will be angry.

“So I want us to join our heads together, the National POBA, have a courtesy visit to his Excellency and beg him to reason with the school, even though I also will not relent, I will also take it as a project to ensure that it is completed, if not, it is a complete defeat on us “he said.
