Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas (Rtd) has been sworn in as the fourth elected Governor of Taraba alongside his Deputy Alh. Aminu Alkali.
Kefas who took his oath of office and allegiance administered on him by the Acting Chief Judge of the State Justice. Joel .F. Agya, at 12. 15 pm at the Jolly Nyame Stadium Jalingo on Monday 29th May 2023 in the presence of His Mentor and God father Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (TY) and the first civilian Governor of the State Rev. Jolly Nyame, and other well wishers who came from all walks of life to grace the occasion, promised to prioritize security in his administration maintaining that security top his administration’s agenda.
Kefas, disclosed that he will focus on creating mentorship programs and supporting initiatives and encourage innovation and creativity that will bring development
to the state, adding that He will use every tool at his disposal to secure a great future for our next generation by providing new skills, encouraging vocational and technical trainings, promoting entrepreneurship, creating job opportunities.
In his inaugural speech, Kefas announced some critical decisions for the betterment and well-being of all Tarabas His words ” Our priority is to maintain peace and security to protect all citizens from internal and external forces because security provides equitable platform for all kinds of development, we intend to make history by securing a better future for generation to come by building a Taraba that all of us will be proud to call our own, we are focused and determined to achieve this through engaging our energetic young youths and women in this state, I therefore, call on the experienced people in our community to join hands with us to tackle our enormous challenges ahead of us, we will look for the most qualified people to work in this government, I know the task ahead is challenging but its not insurmountable, I am also commited to leaving with Vission, integrity, transparency and courage, we need your support so that we can move forward together hand in hand and turn our dream in to reality, I promise to lead by example”.
Our correspondent reports that the swearing in ceremony went smoothly and peaceful without any breakdown of law, also as the Governor took over the Mantle of leader ship today, expectations from Tarabans are superlatively high with the belief that the new governor, having served as a Military man, Chairman of NIMASA and the State Chairman of the PDP will bring his wealth of experience to bear, they also expect him to keep to his campaign promises and inaugural speech by doing all He said.
