The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency bye-election, Mr Joseph Aku, says he has been working with APC aspirants that lost to him in the part’s primaries to ensure party’s victory during this Saturday’s
by-election .
Aku stated this on Wednesday in Jos while briefing newsmen on the progress of his Campaigns ahead of the by-election.
According to the state immediate past Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, shortly after the primaries, the APC state chairman Hon Rufus Bature met with all aspirants that contested the primaries and appealed to them to work together.
He added that he was aware of the contentious primaries which resulted in the re-run before his emergence.
“Even before the primaries, we have been talking and afterwards we have been talking.
“We have been engaging with former House of Representative member Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande with whom I had a re-run and he has remained a member of the party.
“He told me he has not taken anyone to court and that he has directed his supporters to join forces with me so that the party will win this Saturday bye election for Jos North/Bassa federal Constituency.
“We are having another meeting later in the day to find out how we can collaborate further to make sure that APC succeed at the end of the day,” he said.
On why he did not organise campaign rallies, Aku said that he had been engaging directly with stakeholders and voters individually and in groups.
According to him, the door-to-door campaign has more impact than the political rallies that have no feedback mechanism and expressed optimism over his chances of winning the election.
Similarly, the State APC Publicity Secretary Sylvanus Namang who accompanied the candidate to the Press briefing, said that Aku was around to clarify some issues relating to his campaigns.
Namang said Aku was the right choice for APC and that they were hopeful of victory come this Saturday.
